What’s on your workout playlist?

I’m always on the hunt for new workout music.  I don’t care whether it’s an old song that I forgot about or a brand new song.  New songs in my workout playlist always pump me up!

Here are some I added to my playlist in 2011 (some new, some old)

  • Jar of Hearts — Christina Perri
  • Coming Home — Diddy – Dirty Money
  • S&M — Rihanna
  • All of the Lights — Kanye West
  • A Little Bit Stronger — Sara Evans
  • Crash Your Party — Karmin
  • All the Same to Me — Anya Marina
  • Sweet Dreams — Marilyn Manson
  • Little Red Corvette — Prince
  • Who You Are — Jessie J

And because we can’t just have boring words in a post, here’s your introduction to Karmin.  If you haven’t heard of Karmin before…you have now!  You will hear lots of them in 2012, I’m sure.  They started out doing a lot of covers of songs…like this one of, Look at Me Now.

And this one is their debut single, Crash Your Party, off their first album…

Your turn! What are some of your favorite songs in your workout mix right now?

Be YOU!

You were born to be real, not to be perfect. You are here to be you, not to live someone else’s life.

Every day you make some progress and every day you make a few mistakes. Through it all, your wisdom continues to grow and your experience continues to broaden.

Be gentle with yourself. Accept who you are, where you have been, and what you have to work with, for in this moment you can make positive use of it all.

Reach in and touch the purpose that makes you feel most alive. The world around you is filled with places where that purpose can do great things.

It is never too late to offer your unique and genuine gifts to life. Now is the time to do great things, even in the smallest of ways.

Choose to fully and graciously live life as it comes. The richest rewards by far are the ones to which you most sincerely give of yourself.

— Ralph Marston

Merry Christmas!!

I hope everyone had a safe & happy holiday!!

Last Minute Shopping..only 1 day left!

Fitbit – the Fitbit is a tiny little device that you can attach to your belt/pants or for women, their bra band.  It calculates your daily steps, daily caloric expenditure, stairs climbed, sleep tracking and online food and activity logging!  It’s a handy little tool that is fairly inexpensive for all that it does.

iPod Nano $129 – this one is self explanatory.  Although, you might not know that in addition to being small & being able to listen to your music while working out, it’s also a step tracker!

Dip Station on sale right now for $79.95 – I’ve had my eye on this bad boy (ahem, the dip station ladies, NOT the actually boy.  :P) for a few months ever since I ran across the BodyRockTV website.  If you ever think you don’t have time to exercise, just head over to the BodyRock website.  It has a ton of great short workouts that really get your heart pumping!

Okay, okay…enough with the fitness inspired gifts…here are some just for fun gifts!

If you can give your gift after Christmas, this gorgeous necklace is a fantastic option!  Etsy – Hydrangea Necklace – $158

Have infants/toddlers?  Check out this nifty toy to keep your baby entertained, but also keep your iphone/ipod touch safe!  Fisher-Price Apptivity Case – $16.99

For the movie buff…Fight Club Soap – $15

Domestic goddess?  How about these flippin’ adorable measuring cups?!

If you’ve never been into Brookstone, you must go!  There are lots of fun gadgets!  Here are just a few that we ooooh’d & ahhh’d over the other day…

The Boogie Board – $39.99 — It’s a pen free notepad.  You can write on it with the included stylus or just use your fingernail!

Video Pen – $79.99

Bucky Cubes – $24.99

Pocket Projector for the iPhone 4 – $229.99

For the photo enthusiast…Instant Slide & Negative Scanner – $99.99

If all else fails…gift cards are awesome!  Here are some of my favorite GC’s — Sephora, lululemon, Williams-Sonoma, West Elm, Target or just a Visa GC.  😉

Not sure if they sell these in stores or not, but here is a cool way to give a gift card…

Trying to be trendy…

I’m SO not the most trendy dresser.  I always think people look so cute in their trendy outfits, but I have a really hard time getting out of my comfort zone.  My closet is full of staples, you know, those things that you can wear ALL the time, that go with everything…black slacks, black tank/cami, white tank/cami, black sweater, grey sweater, white slacks and then I have dressy jeans & slacker jeans and a whole bunch of t-shirts.  I’m not afraid of colors, but the problem is that I tend to always buy things I can get a lot of use out of.  In my every day wear, I’m a jeans/t-shirt/flops kind of girl.  I like to be comfortable and these things make me comfortable.  If I’m not in my jeans, tee & flops, then I’m in my groove crops, sports bra, tee & tennis shoes.  However, now that I’m comfortable in my skin again and I feel good about myself, I find myself trying to be a little more trendy in how I dress.  I am terrible at accessorizing and being a little OCD, it’s really hard to not be so matchy matchy which I know is BAD!  But thanks to Pinterest and some super inspirational online friends, little by little I feel like I’m getting better with my outfits.  Now, of course, I forgot my hoop earrings in these pics and don’t forget, I’m still a work in progress and yes, I’m still in JEANS, but…here’s my attempt at being somewhat trendy.  Well, I guess it’s really just the belt & scarf that I added that make it “trendy” and different from my usual wear, but it’s baby steps, right?!  🙂

*fun fact…the first time I wore this sweater, Boo (8yo), told me I looked like an elf.  The second time I wore it, he said I really had to stop wearing it because I reminded him of a leprecaun!  lol.  Boys!

Wear to buy:  Sweater, scarf & belt are all from Target — Jeans are ReRock Boot cut from Express

Christmas goodies….

One of my favorite online sites to visit is Pinterest.  For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a virtual cork board of sorts, where you “pin” things you like from all over the internet.  You find all kinds of things from crafts to make, to photos you like, to cool gadgets you must have.

With Christmas right around the corner, I found this recycled bow tutorial just in time!

And what’s a gift without gift tags?!  I didn’t find all of these on Pinterest, but check out these super cool printable tags.  Maybe I’ll take back all the sticker tags I just bought today and print these instead!

tags from MarthaStewart.com found via this blog along with lots of other cute tags!

these gorgeous babies are from Jones Design Company.  You have to sign up and they will send you the pdf.

I have to include these super cute owl gift tags from My Owl Barn!

I’m loving these sweet tags from Sass & Peril (found via The Bakery Spot)

I found these via Flourish

And, finally…How cute are these hand drawn designs from Raggedy Scrappin’?  The kids would love to color some tags to stick on presents!

Christmas list…Make-up!

Holy heck!  Only one week until Christmas.  I had this post all set to publish on Tuesday, but I thought it’d be best to go ahead and publish it today since there isn’t a whole lot of shopping time left.  I’ll be  honest in that this isn’t a wish list really, it’s just what I use in my daily makeup routine.  And, I am by far, not the most experienced or “in the know” makeup wearer.  However, there are some really great products here so you should definitely put some on your list!  They’re mostly from Sephora, but there are a few randoms in there.

My thoughts on a couple of the products…

  • The camomile eye makeup remover is really gentle and not at all oily.  It’s from The Body Shop and fairly inexpensive since a big bottle lasts a long time.
  • The Naked palette from Urban Decay is uber popular and I now know why.  It’s got so many great colors!  I use it every.single.day.  They have a Naked 2 palette that JUST came out, but, like it’s predecessor, it’s uber popular too and it’s sold out almost everywhere.  🙁
  • The eyelash curler?  I started using this a few years ago and it has become a staple in my routine.  I’m not a big makeup wearer, but if I do nothing else before leaving the house, at the very least I will curl my lashes.  It just makes my eyes look more open and alert.
  • I just started using the Kate Somerville products a month or two ago and they are awesome.  I still have break outs occasionally, but my skin looks so much better and I have more time in between break outs.
  • You’re probably wondering why the heck the Boudreaux’s Baby Kisses is on here.  It’s my secret weapon to fighting chapped lips!  I use it every night before going to bed and it’s awesome.  My 8yo has a bad habit of licking his lips in the winter time so I use this on his lips at night too!  I used to be able to find it at Target, but lately I can only find it at Babies R Us/Toys R Us.
Makeup Must-haves

Random Post Friday…

Hola my blog peeps…all 3 of you!  😉  I’ve got randoms on the brain today so random post Friday it is!!  Okay, it’s not technically Friday anymore, but let’s just pretend it’s not after midnight…k?

First up for my randoms…check out this cute little printable owl calendar from My Owl Barn, because owls are so “in” right now and it’s free and it’s January soon, so you need a new calendar.

Owl Lover 2012 Calendar

Why oh why does Starbucks keep coming out with new cold cup designs??  I have the original grande cup,  then I was jonesing for the winter design cup, but talked myself out of it.  Then today I saw that they had THIS design…

Seriously?  I don’t think I can resist this one.  It is officially added to my Christmas list!

Annnnd, speaking of Sunny FL, lookie what I found in the department store today…

Uh….I think someone is confused…we’re in FL peeps…we’re having 70 degree temps right now!

My sweet girl just went to her first dance last night.  I had so much fun chaperoning and getting a glimpse into the life of a 5th grader.  I love her little hat headband she picked out.  Isn’t she a cutie?

We always have good intentions of painting her nails before special events, but I’m usually running behind so we end up not getting to the nails.  This time I played it smart.  I bought these cool stick on nail polish strips by Sally Hansen.

They were soooo flippin’ easy to apply and it’s been a whole 24hrs with no peeling yet.  Now, they’re supposed to last 10 days, but we didn’t do the polish remover beforehand like we were supposed to and being that they’re on an 11 yr olds hands, I won’t hold it against them if they don’t last that long.  They’re a little pricey for a one time use thing, but totally worth it for special occasions!  I’ve already purchased a couple of boxes so I’ll be ready when I need them.

Lastly, my favorite movie this time of year.  It never gets old.

K, that’s all for now.  I’m sure I had more randoms, but my brain is shutting down so this is all you get tonight. Oh, and you’ll be so proud of me…I already have my Monday blog post ready to publish, so don’t forget me after the weekend!

Christmas list — Workout wear

So I’ve already mentioned that I LOVE lululemon and since it’s getting really close to Christmas, I thought I’d put together a little wish list of lululemon staples.  FYI, if you only get one thing lululemon, I think it should be either the groove pant or the groove crop (not pictured)…they are must-haves!

lululemon staples

Pssst…for any elves looking for ideas for me…I already own the jacket & the pants, but I would love to have the bags, the racerback tank (black, sz 6) or the deep V bra in Paris Pink (sz 8)! 😉

This recipe was born one night when I was really wanting one of Chic-fil-a’s banana pudding milkshakes, but was trying to be good.  😉

Low fat vanilla yogurt

1/2-whole frozen banana
