Starbucks Secret Menu? :: Five on Friday

Did you know there’s a Starbucks secret menu?!  Well, technically it wasn’t actually put out by Starbucks, but basically it’s different drink combinations that you may or may not have thought of using Starbucks flavors.

I’m not sure if it’s commonplace to order an item exactly like it comes or to customize the heck out of it, but I have a few go-to drinks that I like to order that aren’t necessarily on the menu.  My personal sbux concoctions (if you can call them that)…

  1. Grande, Iced, 3-pump caramel, 3-pump cinnamon dolce, no whip, with cinnamon dolce sprinkles & caramel sauce on top (what I get most of the time)
  2. Tall, nonfat, Peppermint/Java Chip frappuccino
  3. Tall, nonfat, Hazelnut frappuccino with java chips (got this one recently from another blogger I follow on Instagram!)

Most of the secret menu items put my little recipes to shame though!  So, for today’s five on Friday I’m sharing the top 5 recipes from the secret menu that look the yummiest (to me!) and aren’t overly complicated.

Banana Split Frappuccino

  1. Start with a strawberries and creme Frappuccino
  2. Add Vanilla Bean powder
  3. Add Java Chips
  4. Add a whole Banana (note the extra cost)
  5. Top with whipped cream and mocha drizzle
  6. Top with caramel drizzle if desired

Cotton Candy Frappuccino

  1. vanilla bean frappuccino
  2. raspberry syrup (1 pump for a tall, 1.5 pumps for a grande or 2 pumps for a venti)

Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino

  1. Vanilla Bean Creme Frappuccino
  2. a pump of vanilla syrup
  3. a pump of hazelnut syrup
  4. a whole banana
  5. whipped cream

Fuzzy Peach Tea (for you non-coffee peeps)

  1. Passion Iced Tea made with half water and half orange mango purée w/light ice
  2. Peach syrup instead of the classic syrup

and last, but not least…the one I’m most excited about trying…

  1. *choose your size*
  2. caramel & toffee nut (yes, both syrups) cream frappuccino (whole milk)
  3. 1 pump of vanilla syrup (1 pump for tall, 1.5 pumps for grande, 2 pumps for venti)
  4. extra caramel sauce

P.S. Don’t go trying to order these “secret” drinks by name or your barista will most likely look at you like you have two heads.  It’s not an official menu so most of the time they will have no idea what you’re talking about.  Order it by the recipe!
P.P.S. If you add banana to a frapp, just know that it will be extra $$$.

Printed Shorts :: #whatiwore

Sad to say, I usually keep it pretty simple when I get dressed.  Deciding what you’re going to wear is exhausting! Honestly most of the time I’m fighting the urge to throw on a pair of jeans with a t-shirt and flops so, when I wear something that isn’t that, I call it a WIN!

Even though it’s blasted hot in FL right now, I am always cold when I go inside places so if I wear shorts, I have to have something covering my arms.  This jean jacket is one of my favorite purchases this year.  I looked high and low for a jacket that was the right wash/color and fit me perfectly.  For me, this is the perfect one and it goes with EVERYTHING!  If you haven’t jumped on the jean jacket band wagon…do it now!  I spent $40 (I think.  Maybe $50, but it was worth every penny!) on this jacket and even if I never wear it again after this year, I will have gotten my money’s worth.

Comfy & Casual :: #whatiwore

I went out with my friend the other night and I really liked what I wore, but didn’t take a photo.  So, I recreated it virtually.

A few things I took into consideration when deciding what I wanted to wear.  1) it was raining about an hour before and I wasn’t sure if it would rain again throughout the night, 2) we were going to the movies so I needed to be covered up somewhat or I would freeze in the theatre, and 3) I wanted to be comfortable!

It looks good from what I can tell online, but I want to get out to the bookstore soon and flip through it.  I’m a really picky eater so I like to browse and see if I can find a few recipes that I like immediately.  I hate buying a book and only finding 1-2 recipes that I’d actually make, so if I can’t find a few good ones while just browsing it, it’s likely not a good investment for me.

Anthropologie has some flippin’ adorable, i-don’t-need-them-but-desperately-want-them, glass drink ware for sale right now.  I am particularly fond of these little cuties…

I’ve been switching handbags a lot lately, but because I’m not super organized like this chick…I never have all the stuff I want/need.  I usually only grab my wallet/wristlet, my phone, a chapstick and my camera.  No bueno!  I really want to take the time and have a pretty organized back like this one.

Pale girl rant

So, I was browsing the interwebs, as I do often, looking at fashion inspiration.  I have been contemplating trying on some crochet shorts and wanted to see if I could find any bloggers who were fair skinned and wearing the white/ivory crocheted shorts.  My browsing did not come up with any good examples, but I came across this article.

Seriously?!  First of all, I could have done with out the “hideous” comment.  Maybe “doesn’t look as attractive” or something, but hideous?  Why does your skin need to be tan to be beautiful?!  How about all skin is beautiful whether it’s dark or light or any shade in between?!

Now I may be a little sensitive about this subject because thanks to UV rays, I now have a 1.5″ scar on my nose, a 3″ horizontal scar on my upper arm and a bald spot on my scalp that will never grow hair.  Not to mention a dermatology check up every 6 mos to make sure I don’t have any more skin cancers and the constant worry of, “is this cancerous?” when a new bump/spot pops up.  To say that I’m leery of the sun would be a very true statement.  I do love to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, but trying to be tan in my younger years, hasn’t done me any favors.

But wait you say, this person is saying you should self tan so your rant about UV rays is pointless.

Yes, you would be right.  She is indeed.  Which I do have to praise her for.  But, at the same time she’s saying that you should fix yourself by adding self tanner because your pale skin looks “hideous” with white pants.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I think everyone has features they should play on and features that maybe they would benefit from downplaying.  I do try to dress for my body type and look at what works for me and not necessarily what’s in fashion.  Which is why I was contemplating the crocheted shorts in the first place because I’m not sure they would look that great on me.  And even though I’m not above putting on a little self tanner so I don’t inadvertently blind someone, I feel like pale skin is still being dubbed as not okay or not as beautiful as tan skin and I think that’s a load of crap.  Pale skin is beautiful too!  Embrace your skin color whatever it may be and work what your mama gave ya!

Ok, sorry about that.  Rant over.  Her comment just hit a nerve and I needed to get my frustration out.

Good eats…

I have yet to get into a summertime groove.  It’s the second week of summer break and we’re still being lazy bums over here.  I need to get to the grocery and start planning meals like, yesterday!  Without the hassle of picking up the kids in the afternoon, there is no excuse to not be making dinner most nights.  Not to mention that I’ve added a few unwanted lbs and eating out all the time is not helping.  I was hoping to get on a regular exercise routine this week as well, but my body had other plans.  I go to the doc at the end of next week and hopefully won’t have any restrictions, but until then, I’ll just be doing light exercise.

While most of these aren’t dinner ideas, they are some of my food pins that are on my to-make list for the summer…

How great would it be to have a pancake mix like this on hand instead of the premade mixes?!  I’d probably try using coconut oil instead of the canola though.

Summer dresses & rompers :: Loft shopping

It’s the first week of summer vacay for us here and I have to say that it hasn’t been all that productive.  Monday we tried out some new maids (who failed miserably) so we had to be out of the house for several hours while they cleaned.  I shopped a little with the kids, we had lunch, went to the bookstore and finished up with a Starbucks treat.  Yesterday was a PJ day for the kids, but I decided I needed to go back out to GAP to try on some shoes I’d been drooling over since I tried them on Monday.  Good news, I was right for not impulse buying (I’d like a little more nude and less brownish)…bad news, I found other goodies to buy at GAP.  😉  Anywho, the moral of this story is that while I was out yesterday I passed the Loft and there were so many cute things I wanted to try on!  I came home and did some online window shopping…

Teensy bit obsessed…

Woo!  Happy Hump Day friends!  It’s June (aka, the start of summer) and this is the last week of school!  I know that in a couple of weeks I will start to crave schedules again, but for now, I can’t wait to be schedule FREE!  Late mornings, beach/pool days, movies & golf without homework or school nights looming over us….we’re FREEEEEEE!

Anywho…on to the subject at hand…

I believe I already mentioned that I’ve been on a shoe buying craze lately.  Seriously…it’s bad.  What’s worse is that I could easily buy another 10-15 pair right NOW.

I’m currently lusting after these puppies…

There are obviously some duplicates (or very similar in style) in there so I’d probably add the boat shoes I wanted and maybe another fun colored/printed shoe, another flat sandal and a comfy wedge or espadrilles instead of a couple of those.  Then again…they all have their own unique qualities so how could I give any of them up?  Hypothetically of course since my wallet, nor my closet can handle all of these shoes!

If I had to pick a couple to have right now I’d probably pick #2 because I’ve been buying a lot of brown, but have only one pair of black flat sandals, #8 because I still need a low wedge brown sandal and #12 because I am dying for a strappy heel that isn’t 4+ inches tall.  How about you?  Any of these shoes on your own lust list?

If you can’t tell, I am LOVING the ankle strap this season.  Are you as obsessed with the ankle strap as I am?

Feeling sunny today :: #whatiwore

Honestly, I was second guessing my yellow pants purchase when I brought them home from my shopping trip, but then I put this outfit together yesterday and I can’t believe I almost took them back.  I was in a pretty good mood today and I told the kids it was because I was wearing yellow pants.  My son’s response…”you should wear yellow more often!”.  That’s my boy.  He tells it like it is.  lol.

Here in FL it’s hot as the dickens and I just can’t even think about wearing layers.  Most of the time I just want to be in a comfy sleeveless top so I imagine this outfit will get lots of wear this summer!
