Fall is pretty much my favorite time of the year.  Unfortunately, aside from a couple of days a year, Florida royally effs it up.

We’ve had a glorious cool breeze in the AM & PM and it’s been rainy/overcast the past few days, but our 90 degree weather will be back, I’m sure of it.

‘Tis the life of a Floridian!

Stitch Fix Review #4

Woot woot…it’s Stitch Fix time!

2014-01-18_0003I’ve had a bit of a mixed bag of Fixes since I started.  Some pretty good (one not so good), but this time, my stylist, Valerie…

NAILED IT!

2014-07-04_0011Last Fix I was pretty disappointed, so I decided that I needed to be a little more specific on the notes for my stylist this time.  Part of the problem was that I wasn’t really sure of what I wanted when I first started requesting fixes.  I knew what styles I liked/didn’t like, but I wasn’t really sure what I wanted.  I just expected Stitch Fix to read my mind and magically give me pieces I would love.  You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that that was a silly idea.

So, I sat down and really thought about what worked and what didn’t with my last Fixes.  What I wanted to see when I opened my box.  —  I love jeans and I kept hoping to get a pair of really awesome ones that I love, but in reality, jeans rarely fit me that easily and I have a bazillion jeans at the moment so I was just wasting space in my box to keep getting jeans.  Also, I like to dress up and I like to have pieces I can wear to a more formal meeting/gathering, but in reality, I don’t wear these clothes 90% of the time so again, I was wasting precious room in my box on clothing pieces I don’t wear that often.  I changed my style profile to reflect how often I wanted to receive these pieces and then I wrote a note to my stylist concerning my next fix that requested no jeans, no work pieces and maybe some maxi’s.

Let’s get on to the Fix shall we?

DSCF3346-2One look at my box and I could tell that Valerie paid attention to my requests and my Pinterest style board!  I was super excited to start trying everything on!

Casper Solid Spaghetti Strap Tank (Fun2Fun), $38

2014-07-04_0005Thoughts:  One of my immediate favorites from the box!  I had been avoiding this style of shirt, but recently found myself being drawn to it more and more and the color was right up my alley!  You can tell from the upper right pic that it’s somewhat of a tunic length so it could be worn with leggings or belted or ???  Lots of styling options!

Ultimately: Kept it!  Even though I was immediately drawn to it, I was worried the pink wasn’t a good shade for me, but in the end, I loved it too much to let it go!  The price was excellent as well!

<<<<<  >>>>>

Mirena Zip Pocket Top (Kut From The Kloth), $68

2014-07-04_0006Thoughts: I have a couple of shirts in this style, but none in this color.  Blue is a color that goes well with my skin tone so I knew that if it fit, it would be a winner.  I love the zipper pocket detail too and surprisingly enough, it’s an actual little pocket, not a fake pocket.  😉

Ultimately: Winner winner, chicken dinner!  It fit and as I was trying clothes on, my daughter and my husband said it was one of their favorites.

<<<<<  >>>>>

Antoni Diagonal Mixed Striped Maxi Skirt (Gilli), $68

2014-07-04_0009Thoughts:  Another piece that I was immediately drawn to right off the bat!  Black striped maxi..what’s not to love?!  It’s high waisted (above right pic), but it’s such a soft material that you can easily fold the waist down if you prefer (below photos).  It was all stretchy material so it was super comfy on.

2014-07-04_0010

Ultimately:  Sent it back  🙁  It was one of those, it’s-not-you-it’s-me moments.  I thought the skirt was great.  Good price point, great fit, classic style…but while I know that there are many ways I could have worn it, I didn’t have a ton of options in my closet and I wasn’t in the mood to try and make it work.

One thing that I love about Stitch Fix is that you can try things on in the comfort of your own home and wear them around a bit before making a decision.  This can also be a bad thing because I may say yes to something if I even halfway like it because the checkout process is so simple that I think, “well, it’s already here and it’s one less thing I have to send back!”.  In an effort to try and curb that thinking, I tried to think logically about it and just decided that it was a “no” this time.

Although as I’m typing this I’m already second guessing my decision!  😛

Harvey Mini Clustered Stone Necklace (Bay to Baubles), $32

2014-07-04_0007

Thoughts:  With that price tag, I knew this was a keeper as soon as I saw it.  I loved the color & style!

Ultimately:  Kept!  Colors that will go with anything and a bit of a chevron-ish look to it…definite keeper!

<<<<<  >>>>>

Perry Mix Striped Crossfront Racerback Maxi Dress (LA MADE), $98

2014-07-04_0002

Thoughts:  I was pretty excited about this dress.  It’s a maxi (what I requested) and I don’t have anything like it in my closet.  I liked the style of the top and I liked the comfy material.  Trying it on, I wasn’t especially keen on the side slit or the little half slip underneath to make it less see through.  Although, I definitely appreciate the designers thoughts because there is nothing worse than finding a great piece, but realizing that you can see right through to your undies!  I may have overlooked those two things if it would have fit better, but it was a little too big in the bust area.

2014-07-04_0004

Ultimately: Sent back.  As much as I wanted to love it, it just wasn’t right.  I don’t feel like the quality justified the price either.

Splurge vs Save

Remember this dress I found at Gap a week ago?

IMG_4862

Well, lookie what I happened upon at Tar-jay the other day!  Same style, but a different print and without the belt.  It’s super lightweight, but not see through and it’s very comfy!  I loved the Gap version, but the Target one is a pretty close second and seeing that it was less than half the cost of the original, I think that makes it a win-win!

One more…

If you read my previous post, you would have seen my favorite new chambray shirt that I’ve been wearing the heck out of.  Well, after I posted last night, I remembered that I took photos in an outfit with yet another way to wear the best chambray shirt ever.  Did I mention I love this shirt?

2014-03-11_0001It was rainy for the umpteenth day in a row and pretty frigid (for this FL girl), but instead of wearing my usual sweatshirt and tennies, I opted for my rain boots and vest!  I was chilly during pics so apparently I didn’t think to vary my hand position.  Whoops!  Just ignore that, k?

2014-03-11_0004Do you have a favorite chambray shirt?  What’s your favorite way to wear it?

Now & Later // Link up

2014-03-10_0001

MK over at Outfit Posts is hosting a link up.  The challenge is to show how you would use one piece now (when the weather is still sometimes a little chilly) and later when the weather gets warmer.

I felt like my neon pants weren’t quite summery enough so I added a shorts outfit, even though I don’t wear shorts a ton.  And, I’d probably wear sandals in the two outfits on the right, but my toenails aren’t painted so I kept them covered.  😉  **please excuse the unfocused pics – I don’t know why I’m having issues getting it in focus with the remote!**

I got this chambray shirt at Loft and it is by far the best one I’ve found!  I have one from J Crew Outlet and a denim one from H&M, but this one blows them out of the water.  Like, I love it so much, I want to go buy another one just to stash for when I undoubtably mess mine up somehow.  It’s soft, just the right length for me and the perfect color for the denim on denim trend.

Winter Whites

2014-01-16_0002

I met my mom for brunch at Metro Diner last week.  It was a frigid kinda day (apparently Florida has decided not to skip winter after all) and I’d thought it be a perfect time to try out a white winter outfit.

Wait, what?  White after Labor Day?

Yup!

Rulz schmulz, I say. Rules were made to be broken!  😉

I felt very crisp, cool and wintery. Even my husband commented that I looked wintery.  So, why again, was wearing white after Labor Day a no-no?  If you haven’t tried it, you should!

When I get something new…

I wear it to death!

My 2nd rain boot outfit in a week.  In my defense, it was raining cats & dogs that day and they came in VERY handy.  I have never been so giddy about rain.  I came home, not exactly dry, and my husband thought I would be unhappy that I had to go out in the rain, but quickly realized I was like a kid who just got to jump in puddles when I exclaimed, “my boots are wet!!” and had a great big smile on my face.  😀

Christmas (Eve) #whatiwore

These last few weeks, unless I’ve needed to dress up for a certain reason, I’ve mostly been wearing my pj’s or jeans & sweatshirts.  But on Christmas Eve, I felt like putting a little effort into my appearance.  Pretty much just a dressed up version of jeans & a sweatshirt, but hey, I look a little more dressed up at least.  😉

2013-12-26_0001The sweater and sunglasses are new, but the rest is old schtuff.
I tend to wear the same jeans & shoes over and over again.  And apparently earrings too!  😉

Thanksgiving :: #whatiwore

Yep, what I wore on Thanksgiving.  That is not a typo.  lol.  I am just getting around to posting this and it seems ridiculous, but I took the time to get my daughter to snap a few photos so I wanted to at least post them.

Sadly, these photos aren’t even from Thanksgiving day, but a couple of days later when I wore the exact same outfit again because I liked it.  😛

P.S. holding my phone is so cheesy, but I wanted something to hold and it was the closest thing I had that wouldn’t look totally out of place

That photo up there ^^^, I think I’m picking lint off of me, but I thought it was a good shot of my bun.  😉
